Conservation Education

Conservation education at the Wilds has its strengths in providing all who visit with experiential conservation learning. The Wilds provides unique ways of directly connecting people with conservation while utilizing balanced interdisciplinary programming that has a strong basis in science. The Wilds, with its unique land base and global wildlife conservation efforts, is able to provide a living class room that brings people in touch with their local flora and fauna while also giving them a global perspective on world conservation of endangered species.

As the Wilds’ staff participate in program efforts in Animal Management, Husbandry & Health, Conservation Medicine and Restoration Ecology to advance conservation, these activities actually become a venue for education. The content for our educational programs comes directly from what is being done at a professional level at the Wilds on a daily basis.

Through education at the Wilds, program participants can be instilled with a sense of hope for the future as they learn about the ways we can improve degraded habitats, enhance local and global conservation efforts, and get involved with wildlife and wild lands. Our goal is to utilize the unique resources, staff and facilities of the Wilds to produce educational opportunities that make a lifelong impression and instill commitment in our participants.
