There are nine subspecies of giraffe.
The Wilds is home to two of these subspecies: Reticulated and Masai. Reticulated giraffe have polygonal shaped spots with a white background. Masai giraffe have dark leaf-like spots on a yellowish background. The giraffe spot pattern allows them to blend in with trees.
