The Przewalski's Wild Horse became extinct in the wild in the 1960s, but have been reintroduced back into the wild due to conservation efforts.
The Wilds has a strong breeding program for Przewalski's wild horses, and we also have the ability to manage a herd of males completely separate from the breeding herd. The herd is also involved in studies regarding the impact of stress on reproduction and artificial insemination (AI) in collaboration with the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute.
