The Wilds is home to the largest breeding herd of Sichuan Takin in North America.

With such a large herd able to roam in a wide area, The Wilds has been the perfect place to observe a takin herd for comparative studies with herds in their native habitats in China. Wilds staff was also part of a project that placed satellite tracking collars on takin in China to help understand how they move and use their habitat.
