Non-Invasive Survey Methods: Camera Trapping and Acoustic Monitoring

In this 5-day field course geared towards university students and early-career professionals, you will learn how to design, set up, run, and manage data for camera traps and acoustic monitoring studies to survey wildlife populations. Each day will consist of lectures, going out into the field to set up and check equipment, and managing and analyzing photos and acoustic data back in the lab. 

In the evenings, while you stay at our Education Camp yurts, you will have opportunities to enjoy additional activities such as a night hike, mothing survey, bat survey, and/or bonfires. On the final day, the group will also take an Open-Air Safari

Know Before You Go

  • The minimum age for the workshop is 18 years old. 
  • There is a minimum of 5 people for the workshop to be held. There will be no more than 16 participants.
  • The workshop will take place, rain or shine. Please come prepared for any weather conditions. 
  • If the workshop is canceled by The Wilds due to inclement weather, then you will be refunded the full amount of the canceled program. 
  • All cancellations are subject to processing fees. Cancellations must be made at least two weeks in advance to receive an 80% refund. Cancellations made less than two weeks in advance are non-refundable.
