Adult Volunteers

The Wilds welcomes conservation minded, dedicated, enthusiastic people over the age of 18 to serve as volunteers!

While volunteer roles do not work directly with animals, there are a number of other exciting opportunities at The Wilds. Whether you are greeting visitors, assisting with Sunset Safari, helping during special events, working in the field with Restoration Ecology or serving in other areas, we have the perfect role for YOU.

Some volunteers assist during the visitor season (May through October) while others support various departments all year long.

Volunteer opportunities are primarily long-term, and volunteers are assigned based on operational needs and availability.

Teen Volunteers

The Teen Volunteer program is available to young adults aged 13 through 17 years who are interested in volunteering with a conservation organization. Applicants must be interested in animals, the environment and possess an enthusiasm for interacting with visitors to The Wilds.

We ask for at least 30 hours of volunteer service through the summer. You can choose to volunteer with either:

  • Restoration Ecology, which will involve more field work and less visitor interaction
  • Conservation Education, which will involve primarily visitor interaction and minimal field work
  • Both!

The application period for Summer 2024 has closed. Summer 2025 applications will be available in January.
